Power Quality Partnership

The Power Quality Partnership (PQP) is a group founded by Copper Development Association in 2001 and now comprising ten leading power quality solutions providers. The PQP implements the Leonardo Power Quality Initiative (LPQI) in the UK and Ireland. LPQI is an award winning pan-European Power Quality education and training initiative founded in 2001 with the support of the European Commission. The initiative provides educational materials and is supported by 100+ organisations, including academic institutions such as The University of Manchester and University of Bath.

ERA Technology works at the leading edge of many advanced technologies and provides specialist, technology-based services including design and development, testing, assessment and expert advice.  The Engineering Consultancy Services (ECS) arm of ERA provides office and site-based specialist electrical, mechanical and materials consultancy services, offering a range of power quality surveys, earthing and protection studies, health checks and resilience surveys, asset management and specialist consultancy.

Fluke, Industrial Division, is a supplier of compact portable professional electronic test tools for installation repair in the industrial, electronic, electrical and process markets.  A world leader in the supply of digital multimeters, Fluke's range of rugged reliable tools includes high specification sportable oscilloscopes (ScopeMeter), electrical testers and current clamps, process calibrators, power quality analyzers and thermometry products.  Founded in the US in 1948 development of Fluke products currently takes place in both the US and Europe.  Products are sold and serviced in more than 100 countries around the world.

Formed in 1993, IMH Technologies Ltd has been the exclusive distributor of what is now the Dranetz-BMI range of power quality monitors.  Shortly after, the SATEC range of digital energy meters and the Pacific, Science and Technology range of energy loggers were added.  In addition, IMH represent the interests of Electrotek who are part of the WPT operation that also owns Dranetz-BMI.  They are a specialist power quality analysis software company.  More recently, IMH have been assisting in the new, low-cost PQ relay device from Power Standards Laboratory of California and we have been involved in the SEM147 testing instruments specifically developed by PSL.  The exciting range of BTECH Inc Battery Validation Systems are the newest addition. Throughout IMH Technologies has offered an independent power quality consultancy operation that has been used by the major utilities and customers throughout the United Kingdom and offshore. IMH offers full repair and service capability for the major products and, where possible, tries to source the components to keep even quite ancient instruments in service.  Calibration to National Standards is offered at competitive prices and they are now the European Service Centre for Dranetz-BMI's 61000 series of instruments.  Also available are  GSM/GPRS, and now 3G mobile solutions too, for remote contact with instruments.

MGE was formed in 1966 from a division of the multi-national Schneider Electric where it had previously drawn on the strengths of the Merlin Gerin, Topaz and Square D brands for 35 years. Its UPS products, power conditions and related communications software provide power protection for a wide range of requirements from large mainframe to midrange systems, PC networks and standalone PCs. With headquarters based in Grenoble, France, and UK operations located in Harrow, Middlesex, the company has a turnover in excess of US$496m and a strong presence on every continent and employs over 2,650 staff, serving customers in over 100 countries.

Outram Research Ltd (ORL) has served the Power Quality market with innovative solutions in the fields of measurement and analysis for over 10 years. The company’s Power Master series of recording analysers, supported by comprehensive data recovery and graphics software and interested, expert engineers, is manufactured in the UK and marketed under the Ranger and Adaptive Store banners.

PFC Engineering are an independent privately owned British company who have been successfully trading since 1976. PFC Engineering have throughout this time supplied many bespoke Power Quality solutions, especially within the discipline of harmonic filtration, to sites throughout the world. Specialist applications of harmonic filters include ship-to-shore cranes at various docks around the world and satellite earth receiving stations. PFC Engineering provide full harmonic penetration studies as well as a harmonic filter design capability.

Power & Energy Monitors Ltd (PEML) is a new company set-up to take over the business of Rhopoint Systems Limited, providing power quality and energy monitoring systems and services. They supply hand-held, portable and fixed instruments ranging from simple voltage and current loggers to sophisticated recorders for simultaneous monitoring of high-speed transients, disturbances, harmonics, flicker and power/energy. PEML are agents for Fluke, Enetics, Telog and Nokian Capacitors and include surge protection, harmonic filtering and power factor correction within their portfolio. Services include surveys for profiling power quality, harmonics or energy or for capturing intermittent problems, as well as cross-site troubleshooting and testing e.g. motor-starts and standby generator/UPS performance.

Premium Power Ltd, based in Ireland, is a leading provider of energy asset management systems and tools. It supplies, integrates and supports enterprise energy management systems for large industrial and commercial enterprise. Based on the Power Logic/ION system manufactured by Schneider Electric, Premium Power provides integrated web enabled solutions for revenue certified metering, power quality management, load monitoring and load control regardless of energy type. In conjunction with ERA Technology Premium Power supplies and supports the tools required to model and simulate large and complex networks in order to facilitate improve reliability and uptime. Reference sites include many world leading pharmaceuticals companies, wafer manufacturing plants, windfarms and utilities. Premium Power’s staff, has many years experience in providing solutions for power quality, energy management, system modelling and utility metering issues and has an in-depth knowledge in these fields.
