These presentations have been developed for professional designers and engineers and set out to provide information on the properties, applications, EN specifications and methods of processing of the many copper-zinc alloys called 'brass'. The information imparted by the experienced industrial speakers is not readily available from other sources and is not covered in detail in university undergraduate or postgraduate design, engineering and manufacturing courses. Information on recyclability, cost-effectiveness and antibacterial properties is provided in addition to technical information.
Delivered at a series of nationwide seminars funded by the DTI, the material was accredited for Continuing Professional Development by The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. Notes are provided for some presentations. |
What you will gain
- An insight into the properties of brass
- An introduction to EN material designations and their BS equivalents
- An understanding of the methods by which brass is processed and manufactured
- An awareness of brass applications
- An understanding of the role brass can play in the production of cost-effective recyclable components.
